Tell me more...never heard of this. What prompted your purchase? Ease of install?

 

I had seen it posted on here as well as while browsing Walcks/Kaiser-Willys websites (they both sell this). It was super simple to install. It’s not the cheapest little gizmo but I will be sure to keep everyone updated on my experience. I believe it definitely improved my steering feel and “tightness”, no more free play. I’ll let these guys explain it better, here is an excerpt from Walcks:

“This is the TightSteer© sector shaft tension device to keep the sector shaft pushed into the worm shaft at all times. The device has a spring loaded button that pushed on the sector shaft in place of your adjustment screw. Nice product for Ross steering boxes.”

Started on my clutch bellcrank repair. I bought a complete kit from Kaiser Willys. It seems of good quality. I got the old parts out and will put the new in another night; I had to grind off almost all old mounting hardware.

 

Awesome! Reminds me of when I did mine. My cross shaft was so worn, it blew off the ball stud. The replacement tube was made much better, and thicker metal. Pretty sure I also bought from Kaiser/Willys

 

Ran into a little a little snag with my Inner Clutch Bellcrank Release Stud that threads into my transfer case. My original threads in and out fine as well as into my Dorman thread checker size 7/16”-14 but the one that came in the kit won’t thread into anything. It looks as if the threads were cut on too much of an angle/taper. I contacted Mike at Kaiser-Willys and he is making it right and sending a new one from another supplier. Great guy to do business with! We’ll see how the new one looks/works when it comes in. Here’s some pics of old vs new

 

Looks like new = 16 & old = 18 ??????? Of course I'm often wrong , but I myself have been running into situations like this a lot lately.

 

Looks like the wrong pitch for the threads!

 

The old one is a 7/16”-14 I know for certain, so is the hole on the tcase. I have a key chain-thread checker thing made by Dorman that I can check nuts and bolts both SAE and metric. The old one threads in perfectly but the new one won’t even try to start. I really think the threads are cut the wrong pitch. It won’t start in anything, coarse, fine, etc.

 

I agree, I believe that to be the problem as well. I’m looking forward to getting my new one because I’m at a stand still now. Mike at Kaiser-Willys was super helpful as usual, they are great to deal with. Only problem is its supposed to be a beautiful weekend and no Jeep cruisin’!

 

Oh no! Can you use the old ball stud till the other replacement arrives?

 

I thought about it but I figure I’ll just wait for the new one, that way I should only have to lay under the Jeep and do it once. Heck, who am I kidding, I’m always laying under it for something so it seems

Since I’m waiting on some parts and don’t have any updates, I thought I’d post some pics from the Jeep show from back in mid May. The dealership that puts this on does a great job. It is a great family friendly event with plenty of food and activities for kids of all ages. They just posted some pictures on their website so I figured I’d share just a few of them.

That is awesome! I have a 1/64th Tuxedo Park that I may put on a keychain and hang in my Jeep.

 

Oh no!!!! All that hard work and it shrank in the wash. Good work on your Tux
