Haven’t been able to find one. Anyone have a source? Have a one-off custom unit someone has been into before and I think some thrust washers and snap rings may be missing. When bolted up to the transfer case the gear hits the side of the transfer case housing when disengaged.
Any info out there? Mostly need a pic or diagram of the main body with driven gear and shaft where it bolts to the transfer case. Any help is appreciated.

Yes it is. My apologies as I was going from memory. A dangerous thing these days it seems.

Same bolt up, different gear. It’s for a Dana 300. The configuration should all be the same though. FWIW the snap ring missing in my unit looks to be the same diameter and thickness as a Dana 25/27 outer axle snap ring. At least it matches the groove and the one snap ring that is there. I was able to buy all the bearings and seals today from McGuire Bearing in Portland, OR. They did not have the thrust washers however. Looking like maybe a Ford Toploader 4 speed counter gear thrust washer “might” be able to be modified. I have to go through more transmission thrust washers to see what may work.

    Nick,

Are you absolutely sure its for a Dana 300?

Jeep Winches: Dana 20 PTO Adapter

was of the impression - The Ramsey STC-3 and ST-4 Series were for the Wagoneer and Gladiator and the
STC-5 for the Jeepster Commando Series

I have a Ramsey Brochure that shows what models fit which vehicle but it only lists engine and transmission...I'll try and upload it it to my PTO page tonight.

Yes it’s for a 300. Same bolt up as a 20 but the driven gear is different. Something people in the industry claim doesn’t exist. Thanks to Jpflat2a I acquired this one a couple years ago. Made of unobtainium. I looked for around 15 years for one and finally gave up. A couple have popped up on eBay lately but have gone for stupid money or were in rough condition.

Perfect! Exactly what I needed. Thanks Jim!
Looks like I’m missing a snap ring and thrust washer on one end which is what I suspected. This confirms it.
I found the snap ring is the same one as a 25/27 outer axle. Looks like a Ford toploader 4 speed thrust washer may be able to be made to work. I need to try the one I have and see if it works out. Need one more. I have access to a bunch of transmission stuff though so will dig around and see if I can find something better.
I will report back on my findings.

Yup. It’s cleaning up really nice and will work out great! I’m mocking up the doubler I got at Puyallup swap meet this year, empty Dana 300 case, and the pto unit to figure out the proper clocking of everything. This is gonna be cool in the CJ-6 behind an early NV-4500. I have a Dana 300 built to put in with a disc parking brake I built years ago with high strength output shafts. For now the empty cases are easier to handle for mock-up.
Tomorrow I’m supposed to pick up an NP-241c to upgrade the doubler from a 4 pinion planetary unit to a 6 pinion.

Those listings are too early. Dana 300 was used from 1980-1986 in CJ’s only and 1979 1/2 and 1980 Scout 2. The Scout 2 units are very hard to find as they used a case similar to a 20 (not interchangeable). Other than the case and input gear all other parts interchange.
I’ve actually had this unit bolted to a Jeep 300 to check gear mesh and all was perfectly fine.

Looks like T-14 cluster gear front thrust washers can be made to work. Center hole is too small but can be bored out to work. Outside diameter, tab, and thickness all will work. Almost identical other than center bore diameter.

Great info gentlemen. I just acquired a '49 Willy's Wagon with Some Scout parts under it and one of these STC Ptos underneath. Not sure if it's the D20/5W or the 300/3 until I get things cleaned up. It appears to be behind a T-18A at first glance. Either way it's coming off before the Wagon before I sell it.

The Dana 300 has an aluminum rear output housing whereas the Dana 20 has a cast steel one. So if you cannot read the tag then that is a pretty easy way to identify it.
