Warn 8274 Question

    So I recently acquired an older 8274 that was partially disassembled. The end plate has three parts as pictured and was obviously altered by a previous owner. My question is this, How does this end plate and parts actually assemble? Note: this end plate predates the newer version that has a end plug that is held in with two machine screws. I'm trying to figure out why the modification was made and the order that the parts should be assembled in. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    Look like Bubba owned that winch before you got it. The sheet metal screws are not supposed to be there. original part uses two small machine screws to attach servicing cover to winch. It appears that somebody had a quick fix for stripped out cover screw holes.

    Thanks but no, This version predates the end plate that you described.

    Yes, I guess I should have said that the PO used sheet metal screws to hold the cover in place, not sure what is supposed to keep it on place.

    Ive been searching the entire net looking for a parts diagram for the early winches nothing showing that cover without attaching machine screws not sheet metal screws.

    Looks like the newer drum end support uses small machine screws to hold the cover on. I guess the PO had some trouble getting the cover to stay in place, can you post a pic of the older style cover (guess it was held in by friction fit). all the parts breakdowns do not show your setup. I feel your pain I have your winches granddaddy a Belleview that I rebuilt for my jeep
