Roxor Accessories For Early Cj5?

There's a cool thread over on the expeditionportal forum that talks about Mahindra Jeeps. One of the recent posts that I thought was really cool, and had potential for us on this forum, is the Roxor stakebody kit.

I'm curious if something like this could be used on our early CJ-5's to make our Jeeps to provide the functionality of a SxS with a dump box. Thoughts?

 

Hahaha gold star for whoever can figure out how to adapt this to a cj5 with a roll bar!

Pete, I don't think I'd ever buy the kit, but looking at the installation instructions gives me a pretty good idea of how it's built. It's pretty simple. The one part I couldn't figure out was how to make it work with a roll bar.

 

ouch. 2 grand for (9) 1x6s and (6) 2x4s, some crappy hardware and a plate.

the instructions state if you have a cj style rollbar, you need a pick up style roll bar. i didnt look at the price, but im sure they dont give it away.

and they are then trying to tell you how great all that new storage room underneath the crate is, that they magically created for you

i love the roxer, and one day i will own one, but this stuff is laughable. whats worse is there is an actual market for this.

in summary, 4k to put a wood crate on your body rails is not a good price.

 

I've exceeded that threshold twice. First for the spanky new CJ5 in 1969 ($2999 w/Meyers top/225) and once again, depending on one's definition of a Jeep, on the JKRU (increase the CJ 5 cost by an order of magnitude and add $200). That said, 2k for that Roxor "accessory" is totally silly and it's not something I want on any of my Jeeps or for that matter, a Jeep-a-like if I had one, which I have no intention of acquiring.

I think the days of finding a functional, not rusted to oblivion old Jeep for 2k are long gone unless one is very lucky and finds a totally naive seller. Take heart. Stupidity still exists------

i am looking for that person that has a 65 Mustang convertible, my wife’s car to be, if we ever found one that wasnt more than a new GT off the lot
