If you are just going from T86 to T14, clutch will be the same/stock. Partsdude4x4 has kits on sale I just noticed.

What is the difference between this clutch kit and the one from parts dude? Other than $200. The only noticeable thing I see in the description on partsduded4x4 site is that it's a diaphragm style pressure plate for much smoother engagement

Because I don't know the long-term plan with this Jeep I just got the $85 clutch kit from RockAuto. I wasn't even going to change the clutch but I figure if the transmissions already off and everything's there and accessible might as well do it now just in case

Think I'm not getting spark. Electronic distributor maybe is in order?
Cap looks good, all the green corroded stuff, not so much.

I think I'm fighting 2 things here, a bad battery, and no spark at the coil.
Battery: starts at 12.3 volts, a few attempts to start it, it's dead. On the charger it goes.
Coil: I took the coil wire off of the distributor and cranked it over, no spark, even when holding a screwdriver close to it.

Never substitute an electronic distributor for a no spark condition.
Points distributors are way easier to diagnose.

I cant get spark at the coil. Tested it, its bad. I'm going to pick up a new coil tomorrow and see if that gets me some Spark.

While waiting for the next day to get a coil, I decided to make use of the unusual warm weather. Turned my outside water back on and fired up my pressure washer.
I think some buffing compound Resized_20221031_174455.jpeg will make it look really nice

Just found your thread, subscribed. Hope the new coil gets it fired up. You mentioned "newer" wiring. Have you traced the wires to ensure it was completed correctly?

No, I haven't done anything like that yet. The guy I bought it from seemed pretty honest about everything. I will cover the basic bases before I start digging into anything like that

Rochester 2G's are relatively easy to rebuild. Here is a video from Mike's carburetor parts if you have never done it.

I forgot how fast this cheap jeep stuff adds up. 105 bucks for a clutch, 289 bucks for a new battery and coil, 182 bucks for a new starter....I'm going to keep every reciept this go around.

Wait until I decide to keep it....dui, sniper efi...
