    An M38 isn't a Waggy.
It's practically a bolt in with an added 20HP.

If only it was easier to keep the flat hood, um, flat.

Well I thought I'd hit the Jackpot- there is a little Kubota 3cyl engine local for $500, but after confirming with Overland Diesel they said that engine is a series 2, and they don't adapt those, just series 3. Rats...So I think unless something else falls in my lap I'm gonna pull the original engine & go thru it this summer. I use 30wt Rotella oil. This engine still runs OK, just has that rattle that will turn into a knock.
oh, and if anybody needs them, this jeep has 6.00 tires on it and I am gonna put the correct 7.00 size on it. They are about 20 yrs old but they have only spent maybee 5 or 6 nights out doors & still look brand new!

FYI, the V2203 4 banger is nothing close to a power house either, even the turbo version. I have one of those in my Bobcat Toolcat 5600. No doubt great economy but a bicycle will get you that too.

Yeah I know...a diesel conversion would require faster gears...I know where to CJ5 v8s are sitting & can be bought if I want a more powerful Jeep

That is quite a long intake. Great idea for fitting a carb, but I wonder how it effects the low end response.

That is @Mturbo38a1 jeep... his engine was tired and smoked a lot but was just as peppy as the f-134s we were cruising town during a willys reunion, him with the Turbo flathead, a Buick v6 cj5 and me with my 4.3... it was not a hundred horses but the cool factor was there especially since I gave up on my college age turbo 134.

On the topic of re-power, I'd keep it stock. It's classic and looks like a very nice M38, all original. For an around-town classic car that's all you need.

    Depends on your goal.

I'm more into off roading in the desert so my military jeep doesn't get much attention. I would probably sell if I didn't have so much time into it. Doesn't hurt to have two rigs for different purposes.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

Thanks John, my Willys PU (DD) and cj5 I sold, the driver and his son are relatives, as you can see that Ford carb works nice on that f134 in the MB....

    Ahhhhhh...........
I see it now after you pointed it out.
At first glance, it looked like the carb was mounted on a home built intake runner.

I did a VW TDI swap to my 3A. Yes it makes it more fun to drive, but it was a boat load of work. Nothing was easy about that swap.
