Ok well I bought the small parts kit for my T90 from crown I bought all my bearing locally. I just finished putting the transmission back together I was rather confused when I was putting everything up and found that there were some left over needle bearings. Do the rebuild kits come with extra needle bearing for the counter shaft? I'm almost tempted to pull I back apart in the morning...

My kit had exactly what was needed. Not one extra. I got the kit from Kaiser Willys.

You have to take it apart again, if you are not sure. If the transmission is still on the bench, it's not a very big job.

It's the details that count on a job like this. I would have counted the number of bearings that came out, and counted the number of bearings that went in, as well as looking to be sure that the bearings are as closely packed as they could be.

It's also good to use your calipers to compare the bearing diameters to the originals. There could be more than one size, used in different locations. And you don't want to put it together with the wrong sized bearings, if your supplier screwed up. Same with the snap rings.

Frequently rebuild kits have extra. Sometimes they are short. I save any extras for future use.

The T90 requires two distinct sizes of needle bearings.
Qty. of 88 for the countershaft
Qty of 14 for the maindrive pilot

All T90 kits I've ever seen have the exact number required

The two sizes are obvious. The smaller of the two are used with the counter shaft. Four rows of 22. I counted as I put them in.

i know when i did my t-14 putting it back together there was a space between the needle bearings not big enough to fit another bearing and thought that to be strange but here i am over five years later and no problems. not saying that it's right cuz i thought there should be no space. oh and yeah i had extra in my small parts kit too.
