Radiator?

I'm sloooowly working on my newly acquired 67 CJ6 that I picked up a few months ago. I need a new radiator and after doing some research here, I ordered one from Champion Radiator. It came in and it fits perfectly but only problem I have now the fan blade is going to hit the return port. I had a funny feeling it was going to do that.

I have read some where the later CJ's radiators are a little more wider and don't have that problem so I'm wondering if anybody here had the same problem with the older CJ's? The only way around it that I'm seeing is to order the electric fan setup from Champion Radiator and call it good. Right?

    Thanks,
    Hatari

Just put a new radiator in mine. There are two radiator widths for V6 early CJs. One is several inches wider than the other ( I want to say 22" v. 17" but I do not recall exactly) I used the wider one and had no problem. I ordered a replacement from Kaiser-Willys, and it fit perfectly. But, I had to pay through the nose.

I have a Champion radiator in my 69 CJ5 with an electric puller fan behind it. I cut & reinforced some of the sheet metal behind the grill and moved the radiator right up into the space behind the 7 vertical slots. Pretty sure mine is just a 2 row, but it cools amazingly well, even here in the Mojave Desert. You'd be happy with the electric fan setup IMO.

I moved to the radiator to the right an inch and 1 1/2 inches down which allowed the fan to clear the hose and port.

You don't need to get the fan from Champion unless they have the best price...should be able to find one locally and avoid shipping...could even go the junkyard route. Wherever you get one, if that's what you decide on, use/make mounting brackets for it instead of pushing those zip-tie mounts through the radiator.
