I have a 74 with a 232. The carb is worn out with lots of play in shafts and a crack in the base where it is attached to the intake. I am wondering if I should get a rebuilt carter from someone like Autoline or a new one made by Crown. Any suggestions?

Which Crown carburetor were you considering? All I see on their website are the Weber 2Vs.

If I were going to stick with the Carter YF 1V, I'd buy a quality reman.

I was able to find a NOS carter YF with the correct part number on E-Bay.
Crown products tend to of be the poorest quality and should only be used as last resort.

The one I saw was listed as part number J0923808 on autoparts warehouse. I have not found any reviews. The one I have now looks like the one in the photo in the post above. Thanks for post.

I recently installed a later 2 v intake and weber 32/36 on my 232. Runs great. To be more clear. I installed the weber with an offy intake. The combination is running great now, but the install was a pain in the butt! A lot of fabrication to mate the pair. I recommend the weber, but stick to a 2 v intake. A later 258 is a 2v and will bolt right up. Redline also sells kits for those intakes with the weber so instal is easy.
