Finally at a point where I can start replacing things on my jeep. Just picked up two new front hubs, two front wheel cylinders, and a set of new brake shoes. I'll check and/or replace the wheel bearings while I have it tore down. Next month I'll do the rear brake replacement, wheel bearing check. Then new shocks, a new steering stabilizer. Oh,it's nice to be back in the shop.

You will replace often the front brake shoes if you go wheeling.

    keep on the work

Replacing shoes is the price of having fun. The garden hose will help prolong the brake shoe life expectancy. The other parts are insurance against failure (I hpoe). I don't do a lot of wild and crazy things.

Big problem is the time between a mud hole and the garden hoze especaly when you cross a mud-hole soon on a day off-roading, at the end of the day you don't have any more pad left.

That's why i have disk brake all around, i was tired to service brake every time i was going off-roading. Also having drum all-around i never trust them while off-roading at the point that sometime i prefer to leave the jeep at home.

Oh, I use to do wild and crazy things back in the 70's. Our questions back then was "What's the matter? You chicken?" Spent 2 and a half years in Alaska where I rolled my first jeep trying to cross Reserection River. Glacier water, boy was that cold. I guess as we (at least me) get older, we get wisdom (caution) and experiance (more caution), I tend to go easier on things (my jeep). Buying parts is bad enough. I wouldn't want to buy another. I like my 75. These brake shoes have been on there for awhile and I know the drum was in need of replacement. So now's the time.

My wife is taking a couple of days off next week. We usually ride to work togeather so it'll be a good time to drive it to work.

    nickmil In mothballs.

Why I have 4 wheel discs as well, and have for 18 plus years.
However, if you wear out a set of brake shoes in one trail run there are other issues here, regardless of whether you've gone through mud or not.

I was not going trought complete replacement of brake shoes every time i was going on a trail, but i was in need everytime to pull the drum and clean everything inside.

I can see stocking parts for our rigs. Parts get more expensive and harder to find each time you go to buy.
