I got a heater out of a Postal AMGeneral Jeep...year unknown...I would guess 70's vintage to put in my '58 Willys. I saved all the parts that I removed or thought I did but now can't remember how to hook the cable to the left side of the box.

The heater is the type that has the large flexible air intake tube that runs from the inside of the grille to the box that is affixed to the left side of the firewall. The core sits horizontally in the box. Does any one have a photo of that type of heater that shows how the cable is attached on the far left side? Thanks

Coat, knit cap, gloves. Get rid of all that unnecesary junk under the hood that gets in the way.

:iagree: The dang core leaked and then the cardboard-y heat directors that send air to the windshield fell out from under the dash with mouse chewys all over em. So I pulled out everything. No top no doors, plowing with the windshield down, never looked back. Hmm I should sell that stuff...

Thanks Guys, I guess I'm not the rugged indivdualists that Matt, and noahlon are. The core is good, I had it pressure and flow tested. I preplaced the cardboard connector with one made of ABS. And I've got the F134 so still room to operate under the hood. Thanks Ron for the clear photo. Hum...that lower attachment point is what I was interested in. Mine has a "Z" shaped arm spot welded at that point with about a 1/4" hole in it....so I'm kind of back at square one. But definately the same type of heater set up.

:)That arm in that plenum is just to divert the amount of cold air from the heater core to just partial air getting to it........IE: its either traveling all through the heater core or being bypassed somewhat.
So the cable is just doing a simple function.........just needs to be mounted to open and close the vent............you should also put a shut off valve on one of those water lines so that in Hot weather you can shut the water off so the core is not sending heated air into the cab at all times...........

Thanks tarry99. Yup, have it wired in the postion to provide heat...but would like to hook it up properly if I can. Also have in the plans to add the in-line H20 valve as one of the cables from the control panel if you can call it that [three chrome plated knobs that hang under the dash] goes to that valve as well.
