Hi, First of all, thanks for all of the advise on what alt to pick up. I bought a cs130 100Amp for $30 at the local junk yard, and found plenty of info on wiring it.
Is there any issues with using the original mounting brackets??? Thanks again

Once again, measure the mounting boss. The 130 boss is ~ 1" wider. Then remove the rod like piece on the mount from the block to the alt. Shorten it to fit. I measured the old alt and the new then subtracted to get the deduct. Cut it to suit then turn it down and rethread. Mine was on a 304. If you have a 6 cyl, then same thing just look at the bracket to find the right part to shorten.

OK, that works. I wasn't sure if the originals would work at all, even altered. I was thinking that I would have to find bracket "stuff" from another model. Thanks

From 1977 on, the 6 cylinders got the 10SI alternator. A few years later, the V8s did too. Both of my J-trucks got the 10SI from the factory. So a later engine could donate brackets if you are not up to modifying the existing brackets.

However, from Zila's description, it's very easy to modify the existing brackets.

If I could find brackets that will work without alteration, I'll use them. I have a 304, so what models and years should I look for?? I'll post for the brackets in the classified section after your reply. Thanks again!!

I wouldn't buy anything as of lately from those folks. I've tried on 2 occasions to buy parts from them: once from their website and another time from their eBay listings. I had to get PayPal to refund my money from the website purchase. On the eBay listing, I was refunded after 2 weeks on their call with the comment "N/A for 2 weeks". I understand they are a small business and emergencies/issues happen, but they should note on their items of purchase if they are out for awhile.

They won't return emails or voicemails either.
