    All,

I have a 4.2 and am picking up a 4.0 HO head today for some fishing stuff I have. I am buying an upgraded cam from comp cams soon after. Should I grab the crankshaft too or will that not go into my 4.2 engine?

    I know putting a 4.2 crankshaft in a 4.0 makes it a stroker but I didn't know about doing the opposite, 4.0 crankshaft in a 4.2.

    Thanks guys,

    Cordova, Chris

I don't think you can do that without a lot of custom piston work. I've heard of people asking this before but I don't think I've ever heard anyone following through with it.

Picked up the 4.0 HO head. Will be shopping for the Clifford Intake Manifold closer to the end of the year. It will work great with the Holley 470 Truck Avenger.

I was just at a local junkyard today picking up a power steering pump for my Grand Cherokee and they had a 78 or 79 CJ7 with a Clifford intake on it. Sure it's for sale if interested but i have no idea what they'd want for it.

South Carolina. They are on vacation next week but if you want to call them the # is 803-536-2211 and ask for Johnny. Tell him Jaybird told you about it and what it was on. Like I said I don't know what they'll want cut it's worth a call.

I think it's calling you to rescue it. On that particular jeep it is about the only thing worth rescuing. It has holes in it big enough to stick your head through.

I just hope it isn't a Clifford 4.2 head.. makes me skeptical since it is on a CJ7.... Oh well, nothing a little CNC and Tig wouldn't fix on an aluminum intake to make it fit.

You should pull the VIN off next time you go... I have a habit of collecting them.

    Speaking of rescuing.....

There is a 1982 CJ7 Jamboree S/N # 0042 in New Hampshire I have been trying to rescue for the past year and a half. The guy has it up on craigslist for 2k but will never answer his emails.... oh well. :)

I don't even know what made me look at that intake but the word Clifford stuck in my head. Let's go back to the beginning of how this started:
    1. I was reading the post about the belt blowing off
    2. This morning my power steering pump locks up and spits my belt.
    3. Go to get pump and just happen across this intake manifold.
    4. Get back and read the post looking for same intact.
    5. Give you the contact info and it's off Cordova Rd. and you last name is Cordova.

How's that for a chain of events.

Oh, just a simple picture of the block and head. I can ID it that way showing a side view of it.

Maybe a pic of the mating point of the manifold and head.

They reopen the 12th so I'll check it out then plus the have a later model there with an aftermarket front bumper with toe bar tabs and receiver hitch built in that I need to snag for my project. They are a large yard but 90% late model stuff with some old thrown in for good measure. I actuall put in 4 years there as a parts puller and they have 2000 - 3000 vehicles at any time.

Wow, that's nice. We just have a few pick n pulls here and They only have two DJ's. There are a few other small time junk yards but they like to pull the Jeeps apart and sell the stuff on ebay. I do miss the southeast.... built a nice 5 speed eagle coupe out of junk yard stuff back there.

These guys have half a dozen cj's and wranglers which is a lot because the only other yard close to here has 1 cj, I think it's a 77 model. This place has a strong presence in the community and the owner actually carved this place out of the woods a piece at a time starting in the 60's. He has told me stories of back in the 70's before he could afford a fence they used to stack chargers, cuda's, camaros, etc. on top of each other to keep people from sneaking in at night. Unfortunately Mr. Ray is getting old and his health isn't that great and I don't think the yard will survive his passing. I'll have to get some pics of the old stuff and post em when I go back. To get an idea of the size of this place go to google 690 cannon bridge rd. Orangeburg SC. Something like 20 acres and Ive covered it all many, many times.

Hold up on calling on the intake cause I can get a better price for you. If they price it out they won't undercut that when I talk to them. Had 4 yrs. in the company and left on very good terms with the ones that matter. Not trying to jack you on price but I usually pay 30-50% less than over the counter on parts and that can add up pretty quick. Good ole boy club in action. If you do call make sure to talk to Johnny because if you don't you will pay more since there is no standardized pricing system in place for the old stuff and some of them think this stuff is gold plated.

Great, thanks man. I can't wait to hear the price. I will do my research and see if I can modify the 4.2 intake from clifford for the 4.0 (in case it is the 4.2 on that CJ).
