do i need a paint hardner

    So I bought some Vietnam usmc forest green simi gloss
    gci paint from raptco for my 55 cj
    and I was wondering if I need a hardenr

    I would consult your supplier raptco and see what they say.

    generally automotive paint needs hardner.

    hardener will help it cure. i spray nothing that isnt activated(hardened)

    Do you mean Rapco? Browsing through their site it describes their paint as "NON-ACRYLIC ALKYD ENAMEL" from Gillespie Coatings, Inc. Alkyd enamels are oil-based and do not use hardener. The Rapco site only mentions thinning the paint with xylene. 4parts paint to 1part thinner

    Ya sorry made a typo I did mean rapco so about how many coats of paint will I need for out side of the tub

    Depends on the primer color you use, the amount of bodywork done, ambient air conditions, how thick you apply it. Lots of variables. I'd suggest you look at the myriad of paint/body/ street rod sites to get an idea. Also look at tractor sites as this sounds like a tractor/industrial type paint. I'd also suggest reading the "P" sheet that will give lots of info about the product.

    Typically 3 coats of paint is the standard. Some colors need more, but you should be fine with yours.
