I just wanted to chime in and say that looks great. I also got a little excited hearing that there are other jeep enthusiasts near me....as I live in Tyler ... Actually just south of Tyler in flint- Gresham area. Hope to see it on the road!

Thats really a beautiful job. Makes me want to re-do my 73 cj5. I did a partial restore but without taking the body off. I think yours turned out fantastic. I'm just down the road in Lufkin area.

Yes. I used to ride my dirt bike there a lot. I actually helped
set up some of the trails when it was first opened. At that time I was VP of East Texas Dirt Riders and our club was deeply involved with the TMTC. I no longer ride dirt bikes and bought my 79 cj5 to enjoy the outdoors , exploring, fishing, hunting Etc. I can't wait to get it finished and take it out there and see what it can do .... I'm sure it will be a lot more capable than I. In the mean time , I'm enjoying the build a lot. And I really enjoy the forum here

I haven't been there yet, but hope to make it there this spring. When will your project be road worthy? (They're never really finished are they?)

Holy Cow! Two new local old CJ5 guys. I've been on here for years and the closest guy lives in Hot Springs. Since you guys are mentioning Barnwell Mountain, the local new jeep club, Bayou Jeepers is having their spring fling some time in the next few months. I read on that Forum that they are reserving the whole camping area for that weekend. It's going to be a car show and drive over to Barnwell after that. Kaiser67, your jeep looks great. I also bedlined the top and bottom of my tub.

Have you guys ever heard of a guy named Duncan Rolls? He lives in Longview and he is the premier guy on restoring Bantam Jeeps. I put a thread on here a while back about him. He rebuilt something like 7 Bantam's over the last couple of years. Just Google his name with Bantam Jeep. Real nice guy. I went by his shop several times while I was working at the courthouse in Gregg County.

No, never ran into Duncan, and I've never even seen a Bantam in person. I will definitely look him up!

Thanks! Yeah, getting the body off an early is a piece of cake. Gets more complicated with suspended pedals, etc. Got any pics?

I haven't heard of Duncan either, but he sounds like an interesting fellow. Where is his shop? And , I'd like to try and catch that jeep get together. Do you have the date of when it's happening? Btw.i used to work for Free's and later on Berg service out of Shreveport. I do commercial/industrial hvac
