I have been concerned about the oil light and oil filter for some time. This week I installed a oil pressure gage and no oil pressure indicated. Engine is a four cylinder with overhead intake valves and in-block exhaust valves. I tapped into the port where the oil sending unit was. Then I found a plug further aft just below the oil line to the overhead valve train-again no pressure. I removed the oil filter line and plugged the port. I left the ports open, one at a time and started the engine no oil came out of either one. The book I have on the Jeep does not show where the tap should be. I have just over 600 miles on the engine since rebuild. (I bought the Jeep just after a complete frame off restoration, however I do not know who rebuilt it)

Now I do not know what I should do next. I was thinking about removing the oil pump. By-the-way, there is oil in the engine to the full line.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Oil pump pressure-relief stuck open? Air suction leak in the pump pick-up/intake? Roll pin missing from the drive gear?

Did this issue develop recently - or has it been that way since the rebuild? How much of a "rebuild" was it?

"Now I do not know what I should do next." ...Is it too late to get your money back from the seller?

Thanks for the help. I did the search and found that the pump may have lost its prime- it did. I took the pump apart and found that the gasket was to thick and clearance was excessive. I honed the interface of the pump and cover flat and reinstalled with a sealer and no gasket. I then pumped oil through the system until I got oil out where the sending unit mounts. I removed the plugs and spun the engine on the starter and, bingo, oil pressure. I have about 40 psi on the gage. :p

Do you know the name of the oil pump manufacturer/supplier? I have heard of this problem with freshly rebuilt L and F head engines.

I do not know the manufacture. What did surprise me was the three bolts holding the cover to the base were metric.
