rear crossmember for 75

Does anyone know if the rear crossmember from a '66 is the same as for the '75? I've got a step bumper on my "6" but was looking to go to the original. I saw in a thread that there was a step bumper available-not sure if mine is from factory, it's welded to the frame. Also, will the gas tank skid plate fit with the factory crossmember? Thanks in advance guys!

 

Your statement/question is confusing.

You have a '75, and you want to replace the rear crossmember with one from a '66?

The "Jeep approved special equipment" step bumpers bolted on. Generally they were dealer or owner installed.

The gas tank skid plate was optional for 1975. It bolts on.

 

timgr, sorry for the confusion. After looking closer, I do have the crossmember. Is the drawbar the same 55-75? I would like to make my "6" as original as possible so I want to get rid of the step bumper since it's not factory and get a drawbar.

I have a skid plate for the gas tank, just need to weld up the holes in it.

The drawbar changed when Jeep went to the rear gas tank. The pieces are different. Then it changes again for 1976. I may have a picture somewhere ... I can look when I get off work.
