I purchased a complete system from a member here. I went to hook up the heater core to the hoses for the first start up and found out the the core has 2 - 5/8" spouts where my v6 has one 5/8" hose and one 3/4" hose. Searching for cores online for my yr it has the core with the proper spouts but its 10 1/2" by 6 1/2" The one i purchased here is square 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" so I assume the core and core cover is longer on the v6 and the one i got is going up for sale :( can i just find the core and housing , is everything else the same ?

    Thanks

what do the heater hose fittings on the engine side look like? cant you just change the fitting on the motor to make both hoses 5/8? might have to use a bushing but this sounds like it should be an easy fix

No. The 3/4" spout is actually built into the water pump, 5/8" on the intake manifold

what about a barbed fitting on both sides that reduces the size down to 5/8?

I used a heater core for a 72 DJ . it's close but you have to shorten height of heater core hold down clamps and enlarge heater outlet opening in box . move them outwards about 1/2 inch . you can get heater core from auto zone . and it it don't look like you can make it work . return it

sorry I thought you were looking for heater core . yep they make a hose adapter 3/4 to 5/8 heater hose

My '70 has the stock heater and a :v6:
The heater core has the two 5/8 outlets like you show and the water pump is 3/4.
I either stretched a smaller hose onto the pump, or clamped down the larger hose onto the heater
    Can't remember which....

Remove the hoses from the core and actually measure the inlet and outlet. I suspect the measurements will still be 5/8" but good to make sure. I suspect if you heat up the hose with a hair dryer it will stretch although not be the best option. Many parts houses have generic hoses with one Id on one end and a long length of hose with a smaller Id. That's what I would look for if possible.

I had to replace my original heater core on my '70 V6. Looks just like yours...

I had to search for a CJ-3 core as all the CJ-5 cores kept showing up with the intermediate CJ core, not the early one. The Intermediate was slimmer and longer, fitting inside the cab and not in the engine compartment.

I was able to get it from my local Autozone so I could easily return it. Fit is tight. Still in process of restoring the box and motor so haven't tested the setup but I'm optimistic as it all fits.
