lately I've been hearing a dull clunking noise while turning. more when hot after 10 or 20 miles and worse when accelerating through a right turn in second. sounds like a rubbery tunk tunk tunk tunk at maybe a rate of 4 per second. like me you're probably thinking tire hitting something but when I checked full turn in both directions it seems like i have over an inch or two of clearance everywhere and i dont see any shinny spots on leafs or fenders, etc. Muddy film on the inside on the tires seems undisturbed as well. Also, the clunking doesn't seem to transfer to the steering wheel. any ideas?

Can you tell what area it's coming from?
    Front? Rear? Left? Right?

I have no idea if my quick math is correct, but...

4 thumps per second... If every thump were a tire revolution, with 30" tires, that's 377' per second. That's 257 MPH?

If it were a driveline noise, it would be around 47 mph with 5:38s.

How are your u-joints? Anything hitting your parking brake drum?

4 per second? That would sound pretty steady, plus only happening when turning. Being a Jeep you couldn't be going very fast.

When I changed over from my 350cc Honda to my 750 Yamaha twin my wife and I kept hearing this funny noise when accelerating from a stop. Turned out to be our son who was seated between us, humming. Because he was used to the 350 he would humm along to that and when we rode the 750, the shift point rpms were just enough different that it made it sound like something was wrong with the bike.

Don't suppose you got a 2 or 3 year-old riding buddy kicking something in rhythm to the engine speed or something?

Jack up the wheel , rock up down and side to side to see if there is play in the wheel bearings.

Also things like your exhaust system hitting....exhaust pipe, muffler, tail pipe, maybe shifting position and bumping something on the frame when turning?

Bendix type axle joints make a little noise at full steer. if you have locking hubs, try unlocking them
