The boss on my rear bearing bap that holds the stud for ebrake main lever is sheared off...I'm assuming when the PO removed the E-Brake assembly. Since I have a 55 CJ5, I'm curious if it includes the m38a1 housing or the Cj5 housing. They do appear different on the various parts sites. In addition, the mounting studs were different on the 2 models.

The cap if fine otherwise. I plan to buy some 99Nickel or 77 electrodes to weld up something.

One stud appears to a normal bolt with a fat diameter above the threads for the lever to ride on.
Transfer Case Stud Fits 41-66 Jeep & Willys with Dana 18 transfer case

The other looks like a normal stud end with threads for nut to secure it.
Emergency Brake Anchor Pin Fits 52-66 M38A1

Considering the early 5 models shared some parts with the 38a1, I'm just looking for pics from folks with similar rigs.

This ebrake rebuild has been tough to source all the parts.

Keep in mind that the CJ5 and the M38A-1 used entirely different emergency brakes. I can't comment on the civvy one as old as a'55 though.
I should have both A-1 and civvy versions to look at, but pictures are above my pay grade (technically challenged).
If I recall, the stud "pins" in a blank hole in the casting, and has threads to retain the fulcrum lever.
I'll check back after looking at both.

Thanks Donny. If that is that case with the cj5 stud, I may just glob a booger weld inside of whats left of the casting and MIG the bolt head down in there so the threaded portion sticks up. There's no way I could fill enough material and then thread it to allow the threaded portion down first.

I just happen to have this picture on my IPad. Just finished cleaning and painting all of the transmission and transfer case parts from my 56 CJ5. I won't be home till next week - can get you a better pic then f you still need it. Should be high enough quality to zoom in on the cap. image.jpeg

Second pic won't help. That is the engine end where the shifter wands mount.

To the right in the second pic you can see the housing with the e-brake stud. Here it is with the picture cropped.

Jomani's two pictures show the CJ5 type stud boss very well. The first picture clearly shows the "pin" that holds the stud in the casting. The second picture shows the boss that is commonly broken off, as well as the stud length, though the retaining pin is not readilly visible.

Why not just replace the cap? It would be a pain but that would be the right thing to do, I have the same thing, a twin stick with a broken stud. I have the piece, but don't need a twin stick. I have a big hole single stick in my Jeep. I will loan you my cap, you can replace it when you find one. PM me if you want it.
