Any idea where I can find an original dipstick for a dauntless in my ‘71 CJ5? Or, if in have to get a universal, how long is the original?
    Thank you!

There's two different types, do you want the one that goes straight into the block, or the kind with the tube that attaches to the exhaust manifold? I can probably take some measurements for you for either one.

The straight in-to-the-block one returns to a tricky, "hidden" hole in the dark recesses (my Dec. '65 produced 1966 CJ5). And, the one with the stand-up tube is much handier (my '69 225 Dauntless in a '67 CJ5 body).

From Peter's picture, it looks like the "attached-tube type".

    There's some info.>>>Dauntless v6 225 Dip Stick Length

My attached-tube rises roughly an inch above the nearby left valve cover and the dip-stick measures 22-5/8" from the tip to the bottom of the stopper. I didn't measure above the stopper to the "finger-pull".

Does the dip stick have a part number on it?
Go to a Buick Forum may find something there

I’m afraid the dipstick is MIA.

Wanted to add on to this question. I am in the process of building 225 to put in my 65 CJ5. Sadly, the builder block did not have a dipstick or tube at all. I cannot find one anywhere so what does everyone suggest as a place to start? Appreciate the help!

Here’s the part number for the dip stick that goes into the block directly, no riser tube.

I'm thinking there is a market for reproductions.

Try contacting Dave Malke - he sells Dauntless parts on eBay frequently and may have what you're looking for. I'll PM his contact info to you.
