Warn Overdrive, Which Model? 3329? (cj5 - 1955)

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by Juan Pablo GARCIA ORTIZ, Oct 21, 2020.

  1. Hi all,
I have the opportunity to purchase an overdrive which the owner is long distance and having difficulty describing other than model 3329. Is this the correct model for a CJ5 - 1955?
"the technician who is restoring the car told me that we needed a 29 tooth"
    Thanks for looking.
Other wise if you have one "NOS" to sell my or you know who has it, do not hesitate to contact me
Here you have somme pics of the overdrive we are talking about:

Yes the nos unit on eBay will fit all standard cj’s 1955 through 1971

  4. How I can be sure that this one has 29 teeth?

The seller would have to physically count them to verify it.

If it’s NOS, then no parts have been swapped around.
Model 33 is rear shift .
-29 implies it has 29 tooth bowl gear.
I would have bought this unit myself a few days ago but don’t have paypal.

I thought 26 tooth was the correct count for the CJ's.

26 tooth is for 1954-1/2 and earlier

On any old Jeep, its always best to count the teeth on your bull gear. Lots of things may have been swapped around over the decades.

X2, it's easy to pull the rear cover on the transfer case & count teeth.

Did not that change also correspond to the change from a 1 1/8 to 1 1/4" diameter intermediate shaft?
