After a couple of issues with my axle and getting advice from members I’ve chosen to attempt the Roxor front axle upgrade. I picked up the axle today. I will update this thread as things progress. Not being able to find any detailed information on such a project, I will try to be specific and document as much as I can for the benefit of forum members.

The cost went up from the ~$930. This 5.38 geared axle was $1,432 from the dealer in Reno.

    Dimensions: For both when available
    Roxor /(CJ Dana 27)
    Axle: 2-3/4” thick / (TBD)
Axle flange at differential: 3-3/8” (for the larger u-bolt) / (TBD)
    Steering knuckle holes: ~44-3/4” / (42”)
Wheel surface width: 53-5/15” / TBD

There is a write up on a front axle install in the Roxor Tech section

It’s a very incomplete write up, was never finished, and is 7 months old

This is my current delay, otherwise I’d have the front end apart by now.

    She is geared at 5.38

This is the complete axle, how it ships, with disk brakes.

Here is my first issue. Axle is substantially thicker than stock, at about 2.75”. So now I’ll need to find U bolts and spring plates.

That is still a killer deal, considering all you’re getting.

  11. is there a way you could put lockouts on it?

For all practical purposes with the exception of the ring gear thickness this is a Dana 44 axle so warn hubs are readily available for it.

Can you order it with a locker from the factory? I assume they have them.

I can’t get into my garage. Damn door is busted. Install starts Saturday, but now that the axle is in, I have axle measurements and have spring plates and u bolts on the way.

Believe me, I’m gnawing at the bot to get Dorris back on the road.

totally agreed with that. Aint no big price for a " bolt-on " dana 44 for a jeep cj.

heck yes it is. my dana 30 swap I just did cost me 1800 or so, because I was given a "free" axle. I should have looked at this option!

IIRC my "free" Dana 30 cost me about $1500. Looking forward to seeing this competed.
