Family Bar/rear Cage Install

I pick up my new to me 1966 tomorrow! Top of my list of things to do is to try to make it more safe for anyone riding. That said, I'm hoping to install a family bar in the back and 3 point seatbelts.

Wanted to see if anyone had installed a family bar to install 3 point belts. I found this (CJ roll bar, cj family cage conversion, cj roll cage, cj5 roll bar,cj5 roll cage, jeep REAR add on cage,cj7 roll bar,cj7 roll cage,Willys roll bar,willys rear add on cage, mb roll bar,m38 roll bar, cj8 roll bar) and looks like it could work. I think If I did this, adding the belts should be easy.

I've been looking at family bars as well...my 2c is you want a good seat with headrest, family rollbar with frame tie in and 3point mounts.
Then add some crumple zone on the rear with a tire carrier /gas can rack (filled only as needed or it will walk away)

Then your brakes and steering will need gone over.

I designed the fast back and the family cage while working at D&C years ago. While I was there, the cages went out the door correct and fitting well. Over the past few years I haven’t heard great things about the quality of their parts. Same owner since I was there… can’t say I’ve got good things to say about him either. He’s knowledgeable and has plenty of parts to sell, but fabricated goods could turn into a real internet rant. Let’s just say that I’d recommend not buying their products.

 

Cool, thanks. I'm likely not going with a soft top (I'm going to only use in good weather with top/doors off) but will keep all this in mind.
