It hasn't arrived here yet, but yes, I think an OD shifter minus the OD, T14, and big hole 18.

 

Tim, does the AA steering box mount provide good ground clearance for the Pitman arm? I'm interested in the AA mount if it gives good clearance from rocks and such.

I’m running the AA mount, and yes it gives good clearance off-road.

 

Yes, it is tucked up there pretty high, I'd say the lower end of the sector shaft is about 3" below the bottom of the frame. There are a lot of other things to hit that are lower, and I have never come close to it in my other jeep.

 

On to the front attachment of the anti-wrap bar. I pulled the crossmember out so I can weld on the table. This kit comes with some nice and heavy components, designed I'm sure for much rougher duty than this will ever see.
I start with a modified spring hanger, and see where I can fit it.

Some backing and strapping.

And more boxing.

That should do it. This is the shackle that will mount on the end of the bar, allowing movement.

I know. You want a bunch of lame excuses? My last jeep trip of the year 2 weeks ago, Mom's 80th birthday party last weekend, 5" of rain, then 10" of snow (in October no less), lots of wood to split and stack, Bilstein shocks lost by the USPS, oh, and work really gets in the way. But good news, WFO made good on the lost shocks, even though not their fault, and sent new ones, so that is the focus this weekend.
This is the jeep trip, the Slick Rock road at Lake Alpine.

The snow, a little early. It really threw all the new transplants here for a loop.

 

Turns out it's a T90. I'm going to part this out, so if you see anything that strikes your fancy , let me know. I will photo and itemize the parts for sale here soon.

 

Spent some quality time with the spare V6. This one has patina. Looked it over, I am going to sell most of it.

Separated the T90 and transfer case so I can get it on the stand.

Back to the tux, it's shock day. I decided on Bilstein 10" travel shocks, instead of the Rancho RS9000XL's I had been using on the 3B. These are a little cheaper, highly recommended, and fit in tighter spaces. I am using some Wagoneer front shock mounts, for a quick way to get more travel. Got them lined up and ready to weld.

The axle tabs are WFO, and I angled them slightly out to the end of the axle tube.

It turned out good. They look good, and reportedly will do everything this little jeep needs to do. They came with black boots, but my brother reminded me boots are so 80's, so I am going without.

 

With the front end done and painted, (except for flex brake lines), I want to finish the rear, so shock tabs first. I am just tacking because I am going to put it on the table later.

Next, final cut the anti-wrap bar and install the weld-in bung for the front rod end.

Tacked the mount to the rear tube, in preparation for putting it on the table.

Now I can get serious about welding, hopefully for the last time before it goes in for good.

Started, then ran out of wire. That's the empty reel. Darn. Then I noticed I'm almost out of gas also, so beer time now, and a trip to the welding supply tomorrow.

 

Welding supplies secured, so back to getting all the brackets final welded on the rear housing. Anti-wrap, shocks, brake line tabs.

Got all the brake flex lines, rear shocks, brake fittings, tabs, banjo bolts from WFO.

20" front flex lines installed. These are nice stainless braided with -3AN fittings.

It was like Christmas around here, also got the rear rotors from Currie. Explorer size, but drilled 5x5-1/2. Also got the pads from Rockauto. ('99 exploder).

Started playing around with the calipers and flex line routing in preparation for hard lines on the axle tube.

 

Flared up some hard lines this morning, and worked out some clamp locations.

Alright, we are finally ready for some paint. All welding is done, and I am ready to turn the corner on this thing and get the wrenches turning the right direction.

Looks better, finally.

I know this doesn't look like much, but getting the 60 under the jeep for the last time is a relief. Installed U-bolts, spring plates, shocks, calipers, brake lines. Now I can measure the driveline and get it coming.

 

Lots of stuff on the to-do list today. As I posted over on "what did you do..." yesterday, I am trying to get a 50 year old top snapped on, now that I am way behind on the weather, because of the delay in getting the top repaired. I went out to put a tent heater in the jeep, hoping this will warm it up enough to stretch it. Bumped right into this guy. Good morning Mr. Bear!

Next, I want to tear down the spare V6, at least enough to see what I have. I got my answer, I think this is a winner, what do you guys think?

Anyway, I am selling all useable parts. Next, back to the tux. I know I have shown this before, but it was on the other side. Rear brake calipers, brake lines, Ubolts, shocks. It all takes time.

I am getting close to wanting to move this jeep, to Partdude4x4 HQ for a roll cage bending party. So wheels are becoming a thing, ordered today, but we will see when we get them in the new shipping world. Next, on to the anti-wrap bar final install, got all the bushings in and ready to go under the jeep tomorrow.

 

Loose ends day. Pounded the bushings in the anti-wrap bar and installed on the axle end.

Threaded the big rod end into the upper end and attached to the crossmember shackle. This is officially done.

I kept it up and out of harm's way, I am happy with placement, I just hope it doesn't hit the muffler on up-travel. Looking forward to being able to drive the jeep up on our club RTI ramp and check things like that.

Also did a bunch of small items like body bolts, the tub is now down for good.
