Accelerator Cable Too Long

1975 cj5 with the stock v8 304, just got part 17716.11 from Omix which says it replaces part number 999893 but this cable seems to be way too long; and I dont have the original cable to compare

Is this correct? should I just loop the cable or get a different shorter one.

On rockauto it gives me 2 options that both replace part number 999923, but on the manual it says this is for the 6 cylinder engine
The Omix one is about 35" while on Rockauto it says its 28.25"

Mine also (V6) . Seems to take a tight bend with little additional friction.

I don’t know either. It was about 15” to long.

It's not a 304 but here is the V6 version in a loop, maybe yours can go something like this?

This is what I was thinking of doing. Thanks for the picture.

The one I got must be the same then, I guess this is the right one; guess the loop gives it the motor and body room to move without having to worry about breaking the cable off

Here is how my aftermarket cable is on my 73 cj5 with 304. It's maybe 25 years old. It works like this. But provides a firmer feel than stock even with the stock return srping... I have a stiffer return spring as well and I felt it was needed using this cable as the pedal was slower than what I wanted when driving. I honestly will probably change it out for a lokar universal cable and cut it to the same length as what stock was. There still doesn't seem to be a correct length cable for the 304 as a aftermarket replacement.... but it works. And I used it for decades. You will noticed I have it looped laying down and the pcv hose holds it down. I pulled pcv hose. Layer it down and set pcv hose over it to keep it from springing up.
