Does anyone out there make an adapter plate to install the 69 small lights in a 70 and up grill? My 69 had a mid 70's grill on it. I took it off and have a 70 V6 grill i will use but would prefer the early lights. I ask this as when I restored my early Bronco, there is an adapter to put the early flush mount lights on the later grills. Looks so much better

    Thanks, LH

I’m not aware of any adapter ring. The ‘69-up lights are just plain larger than the ‘63-‘68 lights. Yes, the hole in the grill is larger to accommodate them. I think the V6 grill changed around ‘67 ?. Either find a V6 grill that’s made for the smaller lights, or fab up some sort of ring/faceplate to use the smaller lights.

My Fall '68 built '69 has the small beehive lights. It seems like the larger ones came along when the side markers, 4-way flashers, ..etc were added at the calendar year flip (mid 1969 model year).

Here's a memo dated in early December '68 to the dealers explaining that Jeep was being cheap and not rolling out the changes until required by law on Jan 2 1969:

I agree that the '68 grill is the correct combo of wide radiator mount and beehive lights. It's what I used on my '71 because I prefer the small lights. It was suggested to me, way back when, to use the '68 grill to get both of my wants ( big radiator and small lights) and I think I was told that it was the only year that used this design. Not sure if that is true or not. I am sure that the '71 grill went in the scrap pile and the '68 grill was painted green with the rest of the JEEP.

Strange that I can remember this but can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday or that storm water pipe we replaced on walnut street 6 years ago. Uggg.

Hard to find the one year you need. I just used a Commando grill, because it was cheap to me, punched in new holes for the small markers on my '65. Got me wide radiator, small markers.
