My fuel pressure was way too high where someone replaced the fuel pump before I owned it. Realized it didn't have a spacer, so I have one to put on. I installed a fuel pressure regulator, then took off the body, so when it all goes back together, I'll try the spacer.

It is not the fuel pump, but the carburetor that determines whether you need the spacer. If you have the Carter YF you don't need the spacer. The F-head in my CJ5 runs great without one. You may need it if you are running a Solex.

I would try it without, but if you want a spacer I have one, if I can find it.

    YF's are happiest at 3-5psi.

Beware of that Crown pump. That brand has a terrible reputation along with Omix-Ada.

Agreed, the quality of fuel pumps has gone way down. I trust rebuilt units or used takeouts much more than the Omix junk being peddled.

The spacer controls the pressure that the pump puts out, the arm goes in too far and raises the pressure, the spacer moves the pump are out and it makes shorter strokes and lowers the pressure. I learned that on a flathead Ford 8hp tractor motor in a Morgan Three wheeler. But that is another story.

Fuel pump rebuild kits. When speaking with these fine folks you'll need to know the configuration of the diaphragm stems. They'll either be a slot or a cross. Depending on previous rebuilds, they may be both. https://www.then-now-auto.com

Used the Then And Now kit on an M38A1 fuel pump. Not too bad, but it's still on the shelf as a spare. Should be fine, but I haven't tested it yet. Pumping the lever, it seems it will work well.
    It was a quality kit.

I have a rebuilt original dual action pump on my CJ5.

On my CJ2A I tried one of the reproduction pumps that look like an AC pump at first glance, but the glass bowl is divided. The gaskets, and diaphragm of the reproduction were leaking within a few months, and I run only non-ethanol gas in my Jeeps. I rebuilt an original AC pump with a quality kit and have been running that Jeep for a couple of years with no issues.

There is a very good write up on F134 fuel pumps and spacers here on Derek’s site: http://cj3b.info/Tech/FuelPump.html It helped me a lot when I got my NOS fuel pump a couple years ago (I needed the spacer).

I installed a fuel pressure regulator on the 64. Fuel pressure was way too high. Got a spacer and I'll try that when I get it running again. Would like not to have to run the regulator.
