Valve Seals

Has anyone used umbrella style valve stem seals on a f head 134.

 

I have heard of it being done, and thought about doing it once or twice. I read through a thread on doing this on another forum which may have been the CJ3B forum, and still had questions about it.

There isn't much room between the top of the valve guides and the cup on the retainer, so I am thinking either the valve guides would need to be cut down, or the cup on the retainer, but I am not sure about that.

Last summer I had the head for my engine rebuilt with new guides and just went with the stock style "O" ring seals which cured my engine from smoking.
