I have a narrow trac dana 30 with disc brakes. I upgraded the axles to 30 spline axle kit and now my spindles won't fit. Does anyone have a link for new spindles? Thanks for any help.

Are those shafts fully seated in the side gears? That the spindles go on that far suggests those are not the problem.

The photo of those axles, I have questions. Are the outer stubs 30 spline? If so, what lockouts would you use? And why doesn't the spline go all the way out to the end? And no snap ring groove at the end? I also suspect the diameter is not the problem if they go that far in.

As Tim asked there are no 30 spline lockout hubs available to bolt to a standard 6 bolt hub. You can machine.010 out of center of spindle
to fit 30spline. Shafts through but it compromises the strength of the spindles .

Looking up that number, the outer shafts are 27 spline which should slide right through the stock spindle-same as stock.

Those Ten Factory shafts are apparently manufactured in India. I still think the problem is in insufficient seating or perhaps the u-joint flange machining. One can get made in USA Dutchman shafts for about the same money and those do fit.

27 spline outers. I put a 27 spline OX locker in my D30. Are you sure you have a 30 spline and not a 27 spline OX? It would create the same issues youre showing us... Like the splines wont fit in the side gears.

And also these, https://brennans-garage.com/products/dana-30-30-spline-jeep-spindles look to me like the same ones I got recently from India or whatever. I noticed when putting the front D30 back together the grooved washer, anti rotation, tab need to be filed down to fit.. The FF mod to these spindles requires the spindle to be bored to 1.31 and on old used spindles it will cut the backside of the keyway out.. You also need to turn down the lip on the mount side to fit in the D44 axle...

Im trying to figure out why in Brennans advertisement of these spindles he mentions 30 spline.. Is there such a thing as 30 spline outer D30?..I re read this, he speaks of outer D44 axle shafts.. So you would need a new hub with internal splines for a locking hub or drive pucks?

So the outer is a 27 spline but the spindle won't fit over it. Sorry for the confusion.

Will the spindle slide over the stub axle with the shaft removed from the housing?

Folks use these spindles in the rear for a FF conversion. Then they have custom FF rear axle shafts made that bolt to the 6-bolt hub. No drive plate or locking hub required. For that to work, the spindle needs to pass the 30 spline shaft since they need to come in from the outside. This is what Duffer did in the back of his 3B using spindles from Jpet and custom axles from Dutchman (I think).

I made my own FF kit http://www.earlycj5.com/xf_cj5/index.php?threads/112223/ I made my axle shafts out of 70s blazer front D44 axle shafts and sent them to moser to cut the 27 splines for the lockout/ drive hubs. If I knew I could do something different with a flanged axle made by Dutchman.. Well.. Maybe I still can? The spindles are easy to modify..

Yep. You can probably bore the stock spindles for that but there is zero meat left in the keyway and obviously a significantly thinner wall.

The axle fit problem, at least in my thinking, comes down to just 3 factors. 1) as mentioned previously, the shafts are not fully seated in the side gears, 2) the stub shaft doesn't fit the spindle needle bearing, and 3) the axle shafts are actually too long. If you still have your old shafts, compare the lengths carefully. Then check the fit of the spindle while everything is out on the floor. That should really narrow the problem. When dealing with aftermarket parts, NOTHING is guaranteed, especially with import parts. You need to check the fit of everything.

Also confirm you put 30 spline gears in the diff and aren't trying to put 30 spline axles in 27 spline holes.

It is a 30 spline differential, OX. I made sure the axle fit before I took it took my setup guy.

Are your u-joints centered in you knuckle, that should tell you whether you have the inners fully seated or not.

I’m used to axle shafts with 30 spline inners, and 27 spline outers. Drive flanges or lockout hubs and readily available for these outers.
In that first post, either the axles aren’t fully seated in the diff, or the spindle is not compatible with the outer axle half. The spindle has either a bushing or roller bearing to carry the outer axle. Pull the axle out and see how it fits with the spindle.
Also, do you have an original axle to compare lengths to the one’s your attempting to use?
