Mods if you think this should be in general discussion, please move.

I have been asked by several members to post up my NOS Warn 5687 install. So without further ado, enjoy

I found this winch still in its original never opened box. I got to pull the staples and let it see the light of day for the first time since 1971. Original owner bought it to put on his F150 and never got around to doing so. It sat in the back of his garage for the next 52 years.

This was the first opening of the box

Following pics are of the installation on my 3 year frame off nut and bolt Museum Restoration.
78% of all visible parts installed on the Jeep are NOS with documentation and original boxes kept
15% Original parts reconditioned using NOS parts with documentation
7% Consumables (tires, belts hoses etc)

In my humble opinion this is as close as you can physically get to the day it rolled off of the factory line and a day two dealership (for adds, winch, overdrive, hubs and bikini top)

I wanted the ability to remove the original bumper if needed, so I decided against using the oem rivets and ended up turning G8 bolts to look like rivets for the top of bumper

Jeep logo was not painted from the factory on this particular Jeep and would take away from its authenticity. JMHO

I have a question about the mounting. I do not see how the winch is fastened to the Jeep. Is it on attached to the front bumper and not on a mounting plate that goes across to the frame rails? On my YJ there is a plate from frame rail to frame rail.

btw. That Jeep is beautiful. I would be afraid to drive it around my area. Bunch of none driving types on the road.

Warn vertical mounting plate used, welded to back of bumper and sleeved through the space. Uses G8 bolts to attach winch to the plate using the std mounting holes. 4 G8 bolts holding bumper to the bottom of frame rail and two G8 bolts that I turned down to look like the oem rivets holding the top of the bumper to the frame rail.

This modification of mounting the winch down and through the bumper was widely used back in the day.
