    Update: Found!

I know it's a long shot, but I am looking for an original paint red glove box door. Doesn't need to be perfect, just hoping for something that doesn't stand out too bad on my very patina'd '69. PO replaced the glove box door with a license plate for some reason.

I'll need the latch as well. I prefer the later eCJ5 style, like in this photo, but I'll wait until I have a door lined up to buy because the holes are different.

I have an after market Chrome glove box door, it is OK but dose not have the stop that keeps it from opening too far. It has the latch, but not what you are looking for. Call me at 734 776 7659, I will send a picture. Rick.

To add, I don't believe the chrome ones can accept the lock cylinder. Mine doesn't.

That is true. A locked glove box door only stops the semi-honest folk.

My Tux seats three people in the front seat, so the consul won't work for me.. I made a larger glove box out of aluminum for my Jeep, made it go all most to the firewall, braced it off the firewall. It wholes a lot of stuff and keeps it dry, not many people that would mess with your Jeep where my Cabin is.

I had considered that console. I have aftermarket seats and it would have been tough to fit between the seats. The seats fit well
in my wheel house notch's and the console would also interfere with the seat-belt latches. Not saying it couldn't be done but everything
would be rubbing. I chose seats and seat position over console. I have the large ABS glove box also attached to the fire wall. For a
lockable space, I have a steel fold down lockable gear box from my helicopter days that will fit nicely in the cargo bed.

I haven’t checked out Kaiser Willy’s yet to see if they carry a very nice reproduction that Carl Walck used to sell. I bought mine years ago from him. Another option if you’re unable to find a nice condition original.

I may have a Presidential red door, but its not from a CJ. I parted out a ‘62 Willys Wagon in red. Those had a similar, maybe same, door under the front seats, in the door opening. I do know mine have a different pushbutton shape, more elongated instead of round. I’ll check what I may have.

Rick, thank you, I will give you a call soon if I do not find a door.

Donny, that sounds good, let me know what you find. The button shape that I am looking for is round with a rectangular protrusion from one side. I think the one used on the wagon may be the same actually.

It looks a lot like this (this is a Chevy version that has the latch tab on the wrong side) :

Mike, I just checked my Wagon under seat compartment doors. They are similar to glove box doors, but are not as tall and don’t curve under at the bottom. Besides, they have been repainted to a lighter shade of red and have surface rust on the inside.
    Sorry for getting hopes up.

Thank you Donny for checking. Did your door have a latch, and if so, would you be interested in selling that by itself?

Send me a PM with an eMail address or number to message to you with a photo of two. The stainless trim and pushbutton are pretty rough, but the basic assembly will probably loosen up.
Sounds like The Wolfpack is over at my old school (UNC) this evening. The local Triangle schools (UNC, Duke, NC State) have always had a great rivalry.

Thanks again Donny. It was a good game!

I finally had a chance to head over to Watson and Sons Jeep Salvage over the weekend. I think you mentioned them once in the past. What an awesome place! They were able to get me all kinds of parts I wanted, including a glove box door, the latch, and I actually ended up with an entire original dash that doesn't have a single extra hole in it. I wish I could have picked up even more, but I am moving soon so I had to control myself. Sadly they are shutting down and getting rid of everything.
