I am looking to put the old military style tires on my 1956 CJ5 but I would like to go with something a little wider (750 x 16") than what will fit on the stock 16" x 6" steel wheels. Does anyone know what the stock off-set is on these wheels? I am looking for a stock looking wheel that is 7" - 8" wide with a wider off-set for a wider track. Even though the 750-16" military tires are bigger than stock they are still very narrow.

    thanks

I've used 7.50-16 on stock wheels 16x41/2 and 16X5 work fine.

So you think I can fit the 750-16 military tires on the stock rims. What do you recomend about getting a wider track. I will be putting a 3" lift on the jeep and don't want to flip it.

34x9.50 Super Swampers work well too.

How much lift did you need for the 34" super swampers?

    JD7,

Thanks for the photo of your 48. Look great. So those are stock rims with 750-16's? Any lift needed? Did you paint or powder coat the wheels?

    thanks again

What kind of tires are on your jeep JD7? I'm looking to replace the tires on my M38A1 and I want to keep it looking kinda original but I'm not crazy about driving around on NDT tires either. I'm looking for something that has that look for my 7.00-16 rims and no lift.

no lift, yes they rubbed a little at full lock until I adjusted the stops. Painted the wheels. The tires were just some off brand mud grip I found in the warehouse of a local tire store. Can't hardly find anything but radials anymore, you can still order them but they cost as much as a radial now.

    Hahnda,

    Disturbing photo.

Are your stock rims really 7". The thought they were all 6"

Oops, My mistake. I guess I should have said my TIRES are 7.00x16.
    Sorry for the confusion.

Hey, and I'm considered down right purdy in my neck of the woods.
