I took out the origingal heat assembly and controls last weekend and installed the mojave heater w/plenum. It feels great to have heat and a defroster that works!!

I would like to see some pics please. How was the install? Price? I'm looking at a 74/5 without heat.

Pictures? How much, which model, how long did it take? I'm tearing mine down next weekend. Found three other heater setups in boxes but if none of them work I may go the Mojave route.

For those who are new here... search the forum for "AstroVan"

I installed a heater from the rear cabin of a Chevy AstroVan, works great, cost me ~$50... :)

It's a "dutch" alternative to the Mohave unit. ;)

I will try and get pictures this weekend. It was not a bad install really would have been easier for 2 people. One to hold things while the other drills and bolts. Cost was about $215.00 with the plenum, and another $20 for misc. things like more heater hose, clamps etc. I had a piece of "flexaust" that fit the vent for the defroster. It took me approx 4hrs alone. Works great.

i remember reading this thread before i went home on leave...

i did two snow runs and froze to death... i had replaced heater core, fan, and the defrost hose. i think i am going this route once home in march. any problems since you installed this heater? thanks

thanks guys, i do have that link on my favorites and will be ordering it once i am home in the spring. it will be great to get rid of all the stock junk... cables/switch, heater box (that has tons of duct tape to help seal the cracks... dont act like you havent been there  ) and that heat core can go too.

dohc281 It is what it is.

I have the heater core bypassed now and have no heat, even if it was good all the controlls are frozen and don't work. This seems like a better option than repairing the original unit.
