tall skinny tires

Hey guys,

I'm looking into a bds 2 1/2 lift, and I'm trying to decide what tires to run. I like the look of the tall skinny tires. I know that super swamper makes them, and cooper sells some that are called courser traction. Heres a link to the cooper website http://www.coopertire.com/Flash/index.aspx
On the link you will have to go to products,light truck, then scroll through the list of tires going right till you get to the very end.The tallest one in the cooper courser traction is called 7.50-16LT It says that the overall diameter is 32 inches. This is the kind of range I'm thinking of. It sounds like they would fit my stock rims. What do ya'll think?

Hey guys, I called the local cooper dealer and he said that he could not get the courser traction tires, and nobody in my area carries them.

 

I run 7.50 16 NDT Firestones on my DJ3A with a 2.5" lift and love them.
They were a bit pricy at Coker tire but you may try them they have lots of vintage stuff.
As long as you understand the effects of a couple of inches of tire hight on your gearing and on road performance you will love the off road performance.
Just remember that it is a little harder to get them to go,get them to stop,and your top end speed will be a little lower.

Might want to try the Dayton Trans Trac LT , very similar to the Coopers and in the same price range... pics of them in my Webshots link....

 

Those tires carry a Mastercraft label. Check for the nearest Mastercraft dealer. HTH

 

thats the kind of tires mine has on it now. There the 29 inch ones. Not sure where the previous owner bought them.

 

I was talking to a guy at discount tire, and he was saying the the bfg all terrain and the mud terrain are great tires, and the goodyear mtr's are good as well. The only problem with these is that they are wide but maybe I will get to liking big wide tires. The 33inch all terrains are 145,the mud terrains are 184, and the mtr are 171. I like the MTRs the best.If I went with any of these tires, would I have to replace my stock wheels?

Dayton , has a dealer locator on their website.. the 7.5x16's are 32" tall , like the Coopers and Mastercrafts.

 

Just ordered that size from Sams Club( $133), Still waiting on my special order to come in

 

If you are going to spend that much on tires you might as well go with the skinny swampers 34x9.5. I priced them a few weeks ago at about $125-$130 a tire. Its a good deal and its a lot more agressive then any of the 3 other tires. Thats what I plan on getting over the summer once I can get a project going.

 

:iagree: My Jeep is going to be my DD for around the city so why would I need a tire like that?

 

I'm looking at the 33x12.50 in any of those three tires. I would like it if the mud terrain or the mtr had 33x9. would the 33x12.50 fit stock wheels?

 

Probably not, the wheel will not be wide enough or have enough backspacing. Then again I could be wrong.
