I am ready to reinstall my tub and I was planning on cutting up one of my tires to make body mounts. I can't afford new tires yet so that is out. What are my options for these. I thought about using some 1/2" aluminum bar stock I have but I figured that might be a little stiff.

    nickmil In mothballs.

Energy Suspension and I think Daystar both make Polyurethane body mounts for your application. I think they are less than $30 for a whole kit. Nickmil

Done. Thanks a lot for the very simple answer. Just bought the black ones above for $27 shipped. I plan on replacing all of my bolts with thru the floor grade 8s

FWIW, you don't need Gr.8's here............

I used Stainless bolts and washers with antiseize.

Probably dont need grade 8 but there is not that much price difference when I am only buying a few. I might go stainless. Are stainless bolts strong enough? I have never seen a rating on them.

Stainless should be plenty strong. Like Mcruff said, use antisieze if you use stainless. If you don't and need to remove one, you might get a chance to find out what it takes to break a 3/8 stainless bolt. ;)

Hey, what's the thickness of those bushings? Anyone ever tried stacking them? My frame has been modified and the grille mounts and front crossmember are sitting a little high, so I may have to do a slight body lift to get everything on the same level.

I'll measure mine when they come in.

I bought a set from AV Equipment, and they were something like 1/4 - 3/8 thick, if I recall. I have a few spares I could measure tonight, if no one else comes up with a measurement today.

300 series stainless (like 316 or 318 ) has shear and tensile strength numbers close to grade 5. They should be fine for body mounts. The 300 series Austenitic steels are sometimes lumped together, and sold as "18-8" (18% chrome, 8% nickel).

The ones from energy suspension were 5/8" They have already come in. Add that guy to your favorite ebay sellers.

Did you use washer between the body and bushing?

I used 1 in top and 1 on the bottom of the bushing.

If you want the original style body weltings, Northstar Willys has them.
