my jeep (71 cj 225) has ignition problems , when i turn the key (original style switch) the engine spins but doesnt fire until I release the key . Also , without jeep running, when turning the key back and forth from on to off the coil wire fires just enough to hear it click in the cap. I have replaced the switch and coil. I am also running pertronix ignitor. Any ideas???

Check to see that the coil has power when the key is in the start position, not just in the on position.

The jeep is cranking now but the coil wire is still firing when I turn the key off.

I would guess that you have a short within your ingnition switch itself. If you could disconnect it and shoot the circuit with a multimeter it'd be best, but if not, they're not expensive and are easily replaced.

your exciter wire for your delco alt is hooked to the on position of your key switch and is feeding back. either put a diode in the wire or hook it to the acc. side of the ignition switch.
