I'm 6' 3", have a '71 CJ5 and went to the CJ6 so I could get all the room I need. Now it's as comfortable as my Scrambler!

The P.O. notched the rear wheel wells about 2". Good job. Still have orginial bus style steering wheel too. I fit just fine but some of my shorter friends can't bend enough. I'm 6'-7"

i cut into the rear fender, created a "pocket" and sealed it up with new sheetmetal and fiberglass. that way i was able to keep the seat rails for my sahara seats and theres tons of adjustability. a bit of extra work but definitely worth it and the seats look awesome. however if you want to put big tires in you will need to lift the whole ride. mine is sitting on 35's now.

Maybe if I go on a diet now, I'll be able to get my fatass in by the time it's done...

in my 2a i have fat van seats in it and i usto drive it daily a few years ago i took it of the road for a few years and now im driving it again and found i was too tall for it. I had to remove the sliders and move them as low and back as i could get them. Then i raised up the steering column so the wheel had just enough room so i dont hit my legs or hands on the windsheild then i pulled on the wheel so it would bend out closer to me a half inch or so . Its perfect now

That's funny! It came OFF of a 6! Jimmyhat has (had?) a '58 CJ6, and we just swapped them.

Nope. It's gonna stay a '5, if I have to starve myself until I can get behind the wheel! Wouldn't mind having a '6 for a second ride though.

Not a chance in hell this 300 pound boy is shoe horning himself into a 5. Thats the reason i held out for a commando. Not exactly spacious but other then the stupid window regulator in the knee or shin its not bad at all space wise.

I think I've gotcha beat by a little bit there Bubba. Not much, but enough. So, I'm not looking forward to that grief either. My first seat may very well be plywood.
