Do I have a 225?

I just bought a 67 Jeepster with the 225 (at least that's what I was told). The last guy put an intake manifold gasket on it and used that blue gasket sealer which made it leak everywhere. I went to NAPA and got a gasket and it didn't cover all the holes. I saw him look up the gasket and it was the one the book called for. The gasket I took off was the aluminum one that went all the way acrossed. The book called for the two separate gaskets for the heads. I'm left wondering if I have the right engine or if I have the wrong gasket. Our local NAPA is famous for always selling the right part so I have faith in them. The other thing that throws me is I was told by the previous owner that it has a chevy 350 turbo tranny. I just read that they wouldn't bolt up to a Dauntless 225. Can someone help me? Ron

 

Don't know about your gasket.

The stock transmission is a TH400, not a TH350. Jeep never used the TH350.

If you have the stock TH400, it will be a Nailhead pattern case with about a 3" wide adapter ring to the BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) pattern.

If the TH350 was used in any GM car other than a Chevy, then there's a BOP TH350 that will bolt up to the 225.

I had people telling me that my motor was not a 225 buick but it was a 225 AMC. And if you get technical about it it is a AMC because they still owned the rights that they bought from GM. So I used page that sparky says to use and it is 225 by the casting # on block and heads.Theres a wealth of knowlage on the page.

 

When I read the post it sounds like a straight-6.

 

Kaiser Built the 1967 Jeepster Commando and used the Buick (Dautless V6)until 1972 when AMC started building Jeepsters and they used there motors after that. If it is the stock transmission that it should be a th400, but it someone converted it to an auto. then it could be a Buick (GM)Turbo 350. Check the block numbers in the back of the motor which will tell you what motor is in there. And, when it comes to Jeepsters I would not trust a NAPA parts guy to know what that is, trust me just went through this with parts guy today.
