I have a 73 cj5 with a 232, I found an intake w/ a Weber 32/36 carb for a 258. I was wondering if this will bolt straight up or should I spring for the carb kit for the 232 from Weber. Its a good deal on the intake/carb so I would rather do that if it will fit. Thanks

It'll fit. However, don't bother to change manifolds unless it's the 2V 81-on aluminum intake. An aluminum aftermarket manifold is a waste of money unless you want to run a 4V. Get the matching 81-on exhaust too.

My jeep already has headers on it should I swap to the factory 81-on exauhst? The intake I am looking to buy is a factory 81-86 intake w/ exaust and Weber carb. I wasn't going to use the exaust.

After 1980, the manifolds are only connected by a little piece of pipe for the EGR gas. They are no longer bolted together. I'm no fan of headers, but if I had them I'd keep them until they wear out or break.

The 81-on aluminum intake manifold will bolt on with the headers. You may have to fiddle with the washers, but that should be easy enough. Maybe a little grinding too. Plug the EGR port and put a plate over the EGR valve mount on the new intake. If the later exhaust manifold is a freebie, I'd take it and use it when the headers wear out.

I have manifolds form an '85 CJ on my truck. It's a 258, but the 232 and 258 are the same externally. The only change I made was to notch the PS bracket for clearance.

Thanks, I guess I'm gonna go that route then.
