Not sure what the story is... sounds like my '71 (Sept. 1970 production) Renegade I might have got the steel wheels. I am pretty sure everything's stock because my dad is the 2nd owner and bought the jeep when it was only a couple years old... here's some pics of my wheels and tires:

Sorry if this seems elementary, but Beeser emailed me about this and I just wanted to get the discussion out in the open for everyone to deal with!

I thought '70 models were Ren I, and '71 were Ren II?

How many original miles are on the jeep? I think that would be a good indicator of whether or not it is even possible those tires are original; granted they are definitely old, but they look like they have too much tread on them to have still been driven as late as 1974 (the date on the student parking sticker), or even later.

About 39k... there are 2 goodyears and 2 uniroyals. I think the goodyears were the older set, if not original. And somebody got some uniroyals (winter tires) for the rears... the spare was a goodyear and the front too.

Someone may correct me, but those don't look like Renegade wheels. They're not wide enough.

Nope...not wide enough. They look like standard steelies.

Crapola! Well, I don't know how that happened... someone was mentioning something about Kaiser having stocking issues and such. My dad always talks about how Kaiser at the time was having credit holds with various suppliers, that's why they sold to AMC.

Anyone have any spare Renegade wheels? Or at least a picture? What is a fair price for the special wheels?
