    Hi Vince -

I'm not really sure what it is you're after - a good pic of an original dash? If that's the case then yes, the Speedo hole is the only one of any size. There were no additional gauges, and the speedo was surrounded by small holes for a hand throttle, choke, light switch, and ignition switch.

Heater controls were mounted under the dash. Are you sure your heater is original? IIRC a '66 wouldn't have vacuum controls and the knobs consisted of 3 circular ones. At least thats what my '66 had and what the FSM shows.

A '60 dash would be the same as your '66 dash.

A copy of an original Factory Service manual will show where all the original dash controls are.

Mike, my '66 had the controls under the dash and they were vacuum
operated slide levers. I believe mine was original.

Huh - well there's no guarantee that what I had in Dutch was original, but I don't recall anything vacuum operated.

Dash-wise though, you're still looking at heater controls attached to the bottom.

But - never mind the title. Do you have a S/N? From the sounds of it we could be dealing with a later Jeep that's been mistitled. It'd be much easier to change a title than it would all the drivetrain you mention.

    Any pics of the Jeep?

Oh and - since you mention you're in Michigan, I'll throw this out. Even if you do get that original heater working it won't be worth a toot. They're known as "placebo heaters" because they look and sound like they're working but don't actually throw that much heat. I'd recommend investigating some of the aftermarket heaters such as the Summit or Heatercraft units - and either put one in as an auxillary unit or as a replacement.

I'm going the Heatercraft route on my 6 - complete with phansy dash-vents...;)
