Help ID These

    I am wondering if someone can educate me on my Jeep:
    1. Type of Transmission? Attached is a photo of the Right and Left side of the Trans.
    2. What lift does this Jeep have? Attached is a photo of the leef springs front inside front and rear wheels.
    3. What kind of wheel lock hub is this? Attached is a photo of the locking hub.

    I have been working alot on this Jeep, and havent gotten to any Trans or Suspension things yet.

    Go to Novak.com that will help u ID the tranny. Front leafs have been chenged but the back looks like the original 12 or 13 leaf springs. Don't throw them away if you change them. Old jeep guys are awlays looking for those old heavy springs.

    No I wasn't looking to throw anything away, just trying to get an idea of what they are, and any recommendations on any changes for the better. Thanks

    Have to admit, I've never seen hubs like that. I'm sure someone here knows though. Look like they would be a bear to lock in. Have you used them much?

    Trans is a T-18. Can't quite make out the numbers, but looks to me like 13-01-065-906. If so, it should be wide ratio. If I misread the numbers, and the trans is factory, it would be close ratio.

    Not sure about the brand of your suspension kit, but some kind of SUA. The bracket on the bottom of your leafs at the rear is designed to protect your U-bolt hardware.

    I've read about those hubs before. I can't remember the name off hand, but there is a tool for them that fits over that slot that supposedly makes them very easy to engage.

    Looks to me like the previous owner made some tasteful upgrades.

    I think they are Cutlass hubs. I had a set on my '65 CJ5. I don't know wich way they turn anymore.

    Yes they are Cutlass hubs,,, I have the same ones on my 75, and they still work! Never needed a special tool to turn them,,,,,

    Thanks, Yes I have used them a couple of times and was pretty easy to turn. Thanks for you info.

    I had that same u-bolt plate on the bottom of a set of rancho stenciled springs that were on my 75 cj when i bought it. Your u-bolt plate has a hole in the side of it for a brace that went under the pumpkin to the other side. Basically an axle truss. On mine, I guessed the springs were a stiff set of rancho 2" springs, and that the axle truss was part of the package. Back in the 70's, I guess they thought that a good set of stiff springs is what you needed for severe of-road abuse.

    My brother bought a "Super Jeep" off the show room floor in 1973. It came with Cutlass hubs and was my introduction to Jeeps. :)

    I have the cutlas hubs on my jeep as well, easy to turn and have never given me a but of trouble.

    BTW - very nice jeep you have there!

    Those are the Cutlas Bulldog hubs on my Commando in the pic, after sitting out in the weather for 14 years they still turned fine. Your's appear to be the Cutlas All Steel hubs.
