Hey guys, anyone have a good idea on a spare tire holder for a 73 CJ5? I don't have one and not sure what kind to get for that particular jeep. If someone happens to have one laying that would be cool.

Also, if anyone happens to have a spare jeep jack they can part with let me know.

    Hey Kevin -

You can use the classifieds to post a want ad for the jack.

On the spare tire carrier - seeing that you're running oversized tires I'm guessing you're going to need something beefier than original. I run the Cross Enterprises unit and am very happy with it. No one's gonna give you one though...;)

    Kevin,
I do have one laying around…it is for a ’76 so not sure this one will fit but if you want it you can it, just have to figure out how to get the thing from CA to AZ. However, if you have access to a welder you could do up something similar. The PO had an L bar for the bumper and an exterior carrier. I (really my buddy) got rid of the carrier and welded a piece of a old trailer hitch up right and then we mounted the spare tire mount on a piece of square tubing (same size as trailer hitch) and then slide it to mount the new spare mount into the old hitch piece. We secured it with bolt the same size as a hitch pin and second bold to keep it from rattling too bad.
I knew it was going to be a temp fix because I wanted a swing out carrier, but it worked well for a year.

    I like the pics!
simple, and easily broken down if you need the tailgate opened. Not as easy as a swing out, but, hey!:)

Someone had mentioned Cross Enterprises. Their spare tire mount looks pretty nice, swing-out, and is $285
