    unbelievably nice

  5. Very cool! Are the "Renegade" decals original? If not, where can I buy them???

I can find the ones that "curve" back but I need the ones like yours that have a 90 degree angle.

How long have you owned the Jeep??

Fine looking jeep! The roll cage is a little overkill for my taste but still very nice. Love them valve covers! I used to have a set, I let them go on a 401 that I had. Not sure you can still get them? Would also like to see the specs.

I bought the Jeep a year ago. Since I have been a Jeep freak since I was 16, imagine my surprise in finding this original paint and decal Renegade. Yes, I actually bought it out of a barn! It had some cool 15 x 10 US Mag 5 slot dish mags and some Montgomery Ward street tires on it when I bought it. Of course it had the mandatory late 70's welded to the frame "custom" trailer hitch bumper that weighed about 1000 lbs.

    Original 85,000 mile 304 V8 Stock Internally
Here is what I busted my knuckles on:
    Edelbrock Performer
    Holley 4160 600CFM
    Edlebrock Ceramic Shorty Headers
Dual Exhaust from Willis Automotive in Salinas, Ca
Edelbrock Vavle Covers from my 72
    2.5 Rancho Lift
    32x11.50x15 Summit Mud Dawgs
    15x8 fake beadlocks
Added Power Steering & Grant Wheel
    Lite Dot rear LED Tailights
    Hanson Shorty Rubicon Front Bumper
    Hanson Rubicon Rear Bumber
    Hanson Rockers
Hanson Rear Corners (major pain in the rear, I dont think he will do another set, the rear corners arent even close to being "square")
    Hanson Cage
    4wd.com Gas Tank and Sender
    Arma Coated Interior
I still need to install the greasable shackels and the u bolt skid plates. The differentials are next, staying with the 30 and 44, lowering the 3.73 to 4.27 or 4.56. Some kind of Posi / Lockers, not sure yet.
I want to install a slave cylinder to replace the clutch bell crank. Also going to form a gas tank skid plate.

Two months ago a friend with a 79 CJ7 needed to get his V8 back to meet smog regulations, so we traded intake manifolds(he had the performer and the Holley), I gave him the exhaust manifolds, and I bought the ceramic shorty Edelbrocks from Summit.
The Jeep had 2 year old Rancho 2.5' lifht springs and Rancho Shocks. It rides way better than the old Rancho Springs from 1980 on my 72. Rancho must of softened the spring rate, because this Jeep rides nice.
I like the Scrambler and the CJ7, but I definely LOVE my intermediate CJ5. There is not one part of an intermediate that I have not rebuilt. My 72 is responsible for me having the oppurtunity to exprerience this first hand in my teen years and early 20's (44 now).

  13. Unfortunately those decals slant back and do not make a 90 degree curve like the ones on the Jeep in this thread and my Jeep. Would love to find the ones I need!!

  15. Renegade decal update. I have spoken with Pilot Mike (the guy who started this thread) and Mike of Austin Jeeps about making Renegade decals like the one on the Renegade in this thread.

Austin Mike says he can make them and Pilot Mike says he can get the requisite info on them when he has a chance. If anyone is interested in decals like Pilot Mikes let me know and I will keep you posted. We are in no hurry so it might take a little while!

    Mike,
Did you have to modify the bumpers to fit your frame? I didn't know they made a set for 74's?!?!?!

Pilot Mike, were you able to get the self canceling turn signals and horn to work with the Grant Wheel?
