Wiring manual for front and rear tail lights

Anyone got a manual on the tail lights on were to run them and do i need to buy the full on 300$+ wiring harness

 

I used EZ Wire harness. Great product, great service, great help line and very affordable.

Don't be sorry. We were all noobs here on the forum at one time. This is the best group on any forum I have seen anywhere on the internet and people here will help you until you get your project completed.

Sparky is the site admin and the amount of info he has gathered up here is amazing and there is most likely a perfect answer to any question you have if you look in the technical library and use the search. After you try those two things, if you still have questions, post away.

 

Would there be any reason why I can't see the wiring diagrams? Something about my browser? Or are the links broken?

Hmmmmm.
I can get the pdf's if I click on the "More" under the Electrical banner, but if I click directly on the wiring diagrams, it sends me directly to the svg file.
Oh well, I got the pdf's, so that works for me.

When I bought my CJ the only wires that were present were to make the engine run. I bought a new headlight swich that had a 30Amp fuse built in. From one hot bus I've wired head lights,tail lights/ brakes and radio. All very simple and I can't see where I'll need lots more wiring (horn,CB). I'm thinking of skipping the wire harness purchase all together.

 

I have to agree. The electrical system on these Jeeps is very simple. I for one only planned on the basic electrical, engine and lights, so I saw no need to buy a harness. After getting these citcuits taken care of, I realized just how easy it would be to make a complete harness. All I did was string out wire to each location, mark it, throw a few loops around it with some tape. When I was done running all the wire I began taping the harness up, real simple. I may have put 30-40 bucks in my system, not too bad. But there are some pretty affordable complete harnesses out there, especially EZ's kits. Just my opinion

 

After looking at how someone wired my 71, I went with the little extra money and bought a painless...just that painless. Great wiring diagram, as suggested which I also printed in color.

 

I used a combination of factory manual and the book from the painless kit when I wired mine from scratch. didn't end up using the kit (still in the box), but the book helped out for routing tips.

 

cheating tip: I used a 4 wire trailer connector on the headlight loom, that way I can take the grill/fenders off with out rewiring them. I also added one on the electric wipers on the windshield so that it could be removed easily.
