CJ-2A Frame worth rescuing?

While scrounging for parts at a wrecking yard today, I came across what was left of a CJ-2A hidden in some tall grass. Not much... just a bare frame and a tub. The tub was shot, having apparently been exposed to the elements for a very, very long time. The Willys tailgate was still attached, but rusty and bent beyond hope. The frame itself however looks fine... stripped but completely salvageable. My question is: given the fact that I can have the frame for the scrap value, is it worth hauling it out and saving it for some more fortunate fanatic (I'll never use it personally), or are they pretty much worthless?

There are people looking for frames all the time on the cj2a page... they aren't worth much without paperwork though -- unless it is REALLY clean.

If it were the opposite, I'd take it. My body's on her way out but my frame is excellent =/
Frame's are a tough find, you may get 15 bucks out of it. But shouldn't instinct of Jeeper in you take over and save it?

I paid $200 bucks for a solid '47 CJ2A frame about 8 years ago, but it had been blasted and primed/painted. Good, unmolested frames for flatties are starting to get really hard to find in the mid-atlantic/northeast areas..

Yeah, I guess I will. There's virtually no cost or effort involved, and I have a place to store it. I'm not really interested in the resale value of it... it just seems a shame to leave it out there. Sooner or later it will end up being us scrap if no one grabs it.

Even if you don't get it. I'll take the frame tag if it still has one. It doesn't matter what the numbers are ;):D

Axles too, if it has them. You never really can tell what people may want, and you will be saving it for them.

  12. Get it, keep it, find out if it's a straight frame. Good, straight 2A frames are getting very hard to find, especially ones with the front horns intact & not all "bubba'd" up.
