Wouldn't be suprised if this was a sticky somewhere, but I couldn't find it. :)

    1970 CJ5 with V6 Dauntless.

Need to rebuild the carb, and wanted to verify what I have before I got the rebuild kit.

Only markings I see on the carb tell me that it's a Rochester, but nothing else. Would that be the 2G carb?

Then, I guess this would be the rebuild kit for it?

Since I'm here, might as well deal with my other issues...

Won't have a chance to touch the Jeep until I pull the carb off, and would like to have all my parts ready. So, forgive me for being lazy and not just figuring this one out myself. Where the fuel line enters the carb, is there a filter in there? Look bulged out, like there would be a small one. Or was it inline somewhere? Current setup for the rest of the fuel delivery system isn't stock anymore, and had one added elsewhere.

Also, I have no idea what this part would be called. There should be a rod/stud that threads into the top of the carb, to hold the air filter down with the wingnut. Anyone know the size, so I can make up a new one?

no. you need a rebuild kit for the 2G/2GC. tell the counter man you need the one for a '66 jeep with :v6: .The factory manual has the jeep specs as the destrucions that come with the rebuild kit have the float set way too high (floods off road real easy).

the rod is 1/4" course thread (recall changing mine).

yes there is (or should be) a filter there, it's brass. it is rather fine though, and running a larger paper type close to the tank won't hurt either.

x2 on the in line filter.

From the picture it likes you've got an electric pump (not stock).

Hopefully the top rod didn't find it's way down into the intake.

There should be a 10 or so digit number cast into the body. Be sure to take that with you to the flaps. It can be used to select the proper kit. I'd recommend a NAPA over the other chain stores.

    Thanks all.

NAPA had nothing on it's books for a 1970 CJ5, but knowing the information I was able to get the guy to find the right kit for me.

I'll clean the bird crap out of it, give it a rebuild on Saturday, and hope to have the Jeep running by Sunday evening.

NAPA has the rebuild kits listed on their website, I've searched for the PN that way before. Shouldn't be hard to find. Don't know why they had problems. :?

Dunno, but I couldn't find one on their site listed under my year either. Only knew from trying that I could get it if he looked under a 1971.

Also have mine listed as a Jeep-Kaiser. According to what I gather from the VIN plate, mine was built late enough that it was no longer a Kaiser, but before AMC started putting their name on them, and ends up being that weird period between Jeep-Kaiser and AMC-Jeep, where it is just a Jeep.

A quick search found this site: http://www.carburetor.ca/carbs/catalog/Jeep/index.html
and checking napa showed same kit p/n for mid 60's chevy 2G as jeep 2G, napa p/n CRB25478, but picture on website shows 1bbl and notes say 2bbl 2G. Don't know if it helps or confuses.
