Hi. I've got a '65 CJ5 project I'm just starting on with a V6 and a single lever t-case shifter. There's a decal on the dash says 2hi-4hi-N-4lo (I think, it's in the haybarn, I'm in the house) front to back. It has a stubby lever maybe 6" tall with a mushroom shaped knob. There's also what looks like a blocking plate where the t-case shifters are on my '59, the current one farther forward of my '59 shifters. So, what do I have? Oh, the S/N is 8305017 353814 and there's another number tag on the pass side 392 251.
    Thanks

    Single stick T/C stock in '65 CJ5?

    Let me rephrase:
I have a '65 Cj5 S/N 8305017 353814, which decodes as CJ5, Open Body, Universal, RHD, Calif Emission V-6. All that seems to be accurate.

It has a single stick T/C in it. Is this stock or a later replacement? Is it a Dana 18? There appears to be a hole in the floor for dual sticks, but it's been plugged with sheet metal, is this stock?

Also, what are the six digit numbers on the Kaiser tab on the passenger side of the firewall, mine are 392 251?
    Thanks

From what I can see here http://www.earlycj5.com/zoomer/Vehicle_Indentification.pdf it looks like that VIN is a 1968 build, unless I'm looking at it all wrong.

The cover over the twin stick hole is stock. Both my CJs have it. My CJ-6 is an early December 1965 build and is actaully registered as a 1965 , though the :v6: was first available for the 1966 model year. Model years being different than calender years.

Those sets of numbers on the passenger side are trim and paint code numbers.

You missed the fact that your serial number makes yours a '69 model, not a '65. Also it's left hand drive. If you'll look farther down that document you'll see the numbers 392 are the paint code, and 251 is the trim/upholstery code. Yes the single lever is stock.
