does anyone know of a source for remanufactured crossmembers? The first crossmember toward the front of the frame from the rear bumper is rusted pretty bad. Does someone make a replacement or do i need to fabricate one, it will not be too hard to make one but it would be a whole lot easier to buy one. thanks all

I know the rear crossmember (under the back edge of the body) is available, but I don't think there's any source today for the next one forward other than another frame. I doubt that it was ever available as a separate part from Jeep, much less aftermarket today.

    Mitch-
I had the same problem with my '65 CJ-5, next to rearmost X-member looked like a lace curtain. I fabricated one from 14 ga. sheet with little difficulty, and it looks pretty solid. An automotive Engineer friend said the fabrication should be more than adequate. The biggest problem was making the pattern and cutting out the vertical plates. Hope I'm not too late with this.

A 2"x2" square tube should be easy to fabricate and will also be much stronger than the original. YMMV. ;)

I was thinking of that, did you just use a peice of cardbord for a template?
